Sporting Clube de Portugal, commonly known as Sporting CP or Sporting Portugal, is a professional basketball team based in Lisbon, Portugal, which represents the sport's section within parent club Sporting CP.

The team competes in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB), the top-tier domestic league, and plays its home matches at Pavilhão João Rocha. The current head coach is Luís Magalhães.

History

Basketball was introduced in Sporting Clube de Portugal in 1927.

In 1995, basketball stopped being one of the sports practiced in the club, returning in 2012, just with the women's team.

In 2019, the men's team was refounded after 24 years. Sporting submitted a proposal to go directly into the 2019–20 Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol with their men's team. In a league meeting in November of 2018 between all the league teams, Sporting's acceptance into the LPB was confirmed.

Sporting CP is a professional basketball team based in Lisbon, Portugal. The team was founded in 1926 and has a rich history of success in Portuguese basketball. Sporting CP competes in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol, the top-tier basketball league in Portugal.

The team's home arena is the Pavilhão João Rocha, which has a seating capacity of 3,000 spectators. Sporting CP's colors are green and white, which are also the colors of the club's other sports teams.

Sporting CP has won the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol championship 15 times, most recently in the 2018-2019 season. The team has also won the Portuguese Cup 14 times and the Portuguese Super Cup 3 times.

The current Sporting CP roster features a mix of Portuguese and international players, including American guard Travante Williams and Angolan forward Carlos Morais. The team is known for its fast-paced, high-scoring style of play and has a passionate fan base that supports them both at home and on the road.
